On the 4th day of August, 1873, the Circuit Court of Nottoway granted a charter of incorporation for Citizens Bank & Trust Company. The first and most important act of the new institution was the adoption of its policy, which was and has continuted to be, that it would not prosper on the misfortunes of its customers or of the community in which it was located, but would us its resources and whatever ability possessed by its officers and directors for the benefit of the community.
